Teaching Henna Classes in New Delhi, India at Chaman, literacy and recreation centre for underprivileged children |
CHAMAN is a literacy and recreation centre for under privileged children and is a totally charitable organisation. I had the pleasure of teaching this wonderful group of young ladies some of the finer points of shading and design creation and placement. The class was even more wonderful for me I think than it was for them! I was so overjoyed to know how much they apprecaited my books and designs. The fact that they are so contemporary made them fun to do and they enjoyed the extra attention such patterns gave them from people who had never seen such styles before. As a group they are called ' Mehendi Magic' and the last event was the American Women's Association mela. This skill brings much needed money into thier homes and gives them all a great and deserved sense of pride! |

I can only hope that I have the chance to teach again either at that school or elsewhere. These girls were sweet, smart and talented. I wish them every success and happiness! Special thanks to Rashi who is their talented teacher and helped me to teach by interpreting. Her dedication to this school is an inspiration.
